The study of biological systems from a physical point of view requires often new instrumentation. Development of biophysical methodologies and nanotools involves one of our main activities. We develop and apply both commercial and custom-made systems to probe physical parameters of biological systems ranging from single biomolecules to membranes and living cells. These include the binding strength and kinetics of receptor-ligand complexes, the microrheology of living cells and the motility of living leukocytes.
